There are some moments you plan for — and then there are moments that unfold so beautifully, you realize the movement is bigger than the plan.
Our North Texas community launch weekend, held April 17–19, 2026 was one of those moments.
From the moment we touched down, the energy was warm, welcoming, joyful, and deeply affirming. North Texas did not just receive Black Girls Mahjong, Too! — y’all embraced it, poured into it, played with us, laughed with us, learned with us, and reminded us why this movement matters.
This was not just about Mahjong.
It was about community.
It was about connection.
It was about lifestyle.
It was about legacy.
It was about creating a space where women could gather around the table, learn something new, meet someone new, and feel like they belonged before the first tile was even dealt.
A Weekend Full of Flavor, Fellowship, and Tiles
Our North Texas launch brought together new players, seasoned players, curious learners, boutique shoppers, supporters, sponsors, and community builders — all under the beautiful energy of what BGMJ² is becoming across cities.
We played.
We taught.
We laughed.
We celebrated.
We made introductions.
We shared stories.
And yes — we moved some tiles.
There was something so special about watching new players lean in, ask questions, make connections, and begin to see Mahjong as more than a game. That is the heartbeat of Black Girls Mahjong, Too!
We are not simply teaching people how to play.
We are creating tables where people feel seen, welcomed, and invited into a lifestyle of leisure, joy, strategy, and sisterhood.
Special Love to Our North Texas Community Lead
A very special shout-out goes to Arlene, our North Texas Founder and Community Lead who has been patiently, intentionally, and lovingly helping us plant seeds in the Dallas area.
Arlene brings such a beautiful spirit to the table — patient, grounded, welcoming, and full of that quiet leadership that makes people feel comfortable enough to learn, ask, and grow.
North Texas is blessed to have her helping move this community forward.
And if you know Arlene, you know the 2 Dot is never far from the conversation.
Thank You to BAM Bird Boutique
We also want to extend heartfelt gratitude to BAM Bird Boutique for opening its doors and hosting us with such grace and style.
There is something powerful about bringing Mahjong into boutique, lifestyle, and community-centered spaces. It changes the feel of the game. It creates an experience. It reminds us that Mahjong can live beautifully in places where fashion, fellowship, culture, and connection already exist.
BAMBird Boutique gave us the perfect backdrop for this launch, and we are so grateful.
To Our Sponsors: Thank You for Showing Up and Showing Out
To every sponsor and supporter who helped make this launch weekend possible — thank you.
Your support helped us create an experience that felt intentional, welcoming, and memorable. You did not just put your name behind an event. You helped support a growing movement that is bringing people together around the table in a fresh, culturally rich, and joy-filled way.
That matters.
And we do not take it lightly.
The Movement Is Moving
This launch confirmed something we already knew:
Black Girls Mahjong, Too! is bigger than Atlanta.
The BGMJ² lifestyle movement is growing because people are hungry for spaces that feel joyful, stylish, meaningful, and rooted in real connection.
Mahjong gives us the table.
But the people bring the magic.
North Texas, you brought the magic.
What’s Next for North Texas?
This is only the beginning.
We are excited to keep building in North Texas through more social play, beginner-friendly learning opportunities, community gatherings, and lifestyle experiences that bring the BGMJ² energy to the Dallas area and beyond.
So if you missed the launch, don’t worry.
There is more coming.
And if you were there, thank you for being part of the beginning.
